Guest
There is a one thing that makes me a kinds different from many AVEN people. So I use to fell affection ( not classical falling in love with someone when you still miss and feel butterflies in your stomach) to some historical people from XVI and XVII ( mostly Lithuanians, Croatians, Hungarians and not only).. It's a mix od romantic affection and admiration. I use to imagine meeting those people and old fashioned sex scenes ( only kissing, hugging and intercourse but not porn like one). My feelings also have religious connotation coming from the things I believe ( I think you just know it as I mentioned it in my previous posts). The meeting with such person would be the only one situation when I could agree on sexual relationship BTW. Just this makes me feeling a bit odd and not normal. I suppose I'd look as interesting example for sexologists. I'm not gonna tell anyone. I know people would think I'm not normal and so. Do you also feel that way? Do you also feel affection to historical people? Sometimes I feel really alone with this and I'm kinda ashamed of my own fantasies.
ThaHoward
Don't be ashamed of it, it is nothing to be ashamed of at all :) It is others who also have this admiration and fantasies about celebreties, fictional persons and so on. It is understandeble that you feel this way considering you most likely look up to them and so on. So in short it is also others (also seen them on aven) who feel affection to people they admire and have never met/will never meet. They may not be in the exact same situation as you, but I would guess they are kinda in the same situation. Anyway it is nothiing to be ashamed off, and if you like it continue to fantasize about them :)
Hooded_Crow
There is nothing wrong with you, sweetie. It's absolutely okay for you to have feelings and fantasies like that towards anything/anyone you want. As Howard just said, it's no more abnormal than crushing on a celebrity. It just happens that your crushes involve time travel. In fact, I think it's quite cool :) Enjoy your fantasies! They're not something to be ashamed of. :)
defaultuser
Subconscious has just infiltrated you with it's horrible tendrils (well, we're all infiltrated, some people more or less than other, vey complicated BS). Don't think about that as of something that YOU feel, think about that as of something you are forced to feel. No such thing as 100% asexual, well, corpse of asexual maybe; and no such thing as "normal" in general. As long as your body lives, your subconscious will try to affect you one way or another. Just try to stick to your logical thinking and doubt everything you feel, especially something you like.

Excuse me, but are you telling her that she is not supposed to follow her feelings and emotions? That's not in your position to decide, it is nothing wrong in having feelings and following up on them. It is perfectly natural.
Exanimis
It is actually super normal. Fantasizing about Historical/Fictional characters is just as normal as fantasizing about anything. Simple, do one thing: Pick a TV Show, Cartoon, Movie, Serie or whatever. Sherlock Holmes per example. And then google its fanfiction. Use safe search if you are sex repulsed. It is just super normal to have this kind of fantasies. I'm 110% sure you can find fan fiction about any historical character, hell, there is fanfiction about Shakespeare! Don't worry, nobody is normal. :P

She said it herself, that sometimes it makes her feel ashamed, was just trying to help, no bad intentions. There are many kinds of feelings, and while it's technically perfectly normal to follow or not to follow them, some of them can be also usefull or completely useless. And let the Hayley_me decide was my advise usefull, or useless and offensive.
Zapstileon
There is nothing to be ashamed of. If we were all normal, it would by definition mean we were all the same, and how boring wouldn't that be? Besides, admiration and/or affection for fictional/ historical people is perfectly sane and normal. I for one have a lot of admiration for Oscar Wilde. Several others too, but him in particular. Doesn't make me not normal. Different is a better way to put it, actually, and different is good. :)
Arf
Definitely normal. I've spoken with tons of people who are attracted to fictional characters, celebrities, etc.
xserpx
I follow a Tumblr blog called "fuckyeahhistorycrushes", where people submit pictures and short biographies of historical figures they crush on (it spans from pictures of nameless WWI soldiers to kings and even some serial killers). So I really don't think you're alone (I mean, have you seen some of those portraits?! Wowza!).
romantic-woman
When i was at high school i was so impressed by Plato and the thought that he was the same race as me and lived where i live made me feel excited. It was like "sapioromantic" thing. I remember when girls asked me who was my ideal man i always said Plato or someone like him , i liked that he was too intelligent and he spoke about all this love. I have never dreamt about him doing things, i just wanted him by my side to discuss about love or romance. I also had crushes for celebrities and i was full with them and didnt want to live it in real. I think the reason was that i was so safe that none of them would press me to do other things and that i was free enough to express what i feel without feeling shy. SGTSlashRazor
It's totally normal to fantasize, even for an asexual. I don't think it's attraction, I think it's curiosity. Now, as far as fantasizing about historical figures, I'll come out and admit that I don't think it's "normal" given what most fantasize about however, I also don't think it's a bad thing. Nobody is normal and the world would be boring if they were. Look at yourself, for example. You seem to be into history, that's not normal per se but you and those around you are probably better for it. Another example, you're asexual and you seemed to come to terms with that just fine. In a planet of seven billion people, you won't find a single "normal" one. Not you, me, or anybody on AVEN, or anywhere else. The things that make you weird are what set you apart from the rest of the world. Embrace them.
Zapstileon
There is a website for fan fiction and stuff like that... http://www.archiveofourown.com... You'd be surprised what people write fan fiction about. I have generally little experience with it, but man, I once stumbled over some seriously crazy stuff on there. And quite by chance too. I wouldn't want to know what I could find with a specific search. Some of these stories are developed enough to pass as books. I'm sure someone somewhere wrote something on some historical person... I know there is stuff involving old kings and queens of England, and judging by a quick search, there is something on Napoleon, too. I mean, the possibilities are endless where people have an imagination. All you need is google, and I'm sure you could find anything you want. :)
Guest
Cool, I've never tried to write fanfiction. Maybe one day I'll try, who knows...
