Anyone tried any of the Socket 2011-3 Intel processors yet?

I'm all for Intel, they make solid products and I've never had one go bad on me. Even if I am super pissed that they've come out and said that they're against Net Neutrality. Greedy bastards.

I am actually against net neutrality myself.

I really don't have a strong preference, I looked at both AMDs and Intels when I bought my new laptop last year. As it happened, I got a great deal on an Intel i7, and I've not had any problems with it. (Regardless, it was a huge step up from my old i3!)

Out of interest, why are you against net neutrality? It's a perfectly valid opinion of course, but would it not stop the internet from 'evolving', as it would encourage people to use already very popular sites, and therefore stunt the growth of newer ones? I hope I'm not coming across harshly, I just don't often get to hear the other side of the argument, so I'm actually very interested.

Any particular reason why? I've literally never met a single person who was against it. It's only big corporations that oppose it, because they see another cash cow just waiting to be utilised.

Charging people and companies for internet traffic priority will lead to bigger costs for data centres for the premium traffic to ISPs which will lead to rising costs for hosted services. That will also lead to higher prices for the end consumers and/or more (and more intrusive) adverts when many websites are already overloaded with them.

Bandwidth costs is already expensive enough. The only ones that would really benefit are the ISPs and their shareholders....

building my new computer and i like the Intel I7 because Intel is normally more reliable, but i found the new AMD processors can go up to 5.0 GHz compared to the I7's 3.7-4.0 and AMD is almost half the cost. i don't know what i want to use what do you guys think.

That's just the clock speed. These days the clock speed is insignificant when considering processors for the amount of processing they do per cycle, the cache and the amount of data that can transferred, eg. the memory bus. Besides, the CPU clock speeds are already much higher than the memory speed.

I read an Nvidia Intel combo is more likely to work with Second Life. So my last rig was a Sandybridge i7 (seemed good enough) and the IMHO still too weak 780Ti.

I don't care much about computers. - I should have a 2nd working desktop though - and upgrade when there is hope to see a benefit (9800 GTX -> 470 -> 780Ti -> ??)
