how do you feel about wearing the black ring?

I don't mind wearing it, and I sometimes wonder if anyone that knows its meaning will notice. I've only had my mom and one of my roommates notice, and they didn't ask. (As far as I'm aware, neither of them know about it or that I'm asexual and non-binary.)

For the few months I've been wearing it, I've come to think of it as a teeny tiny way of showing my pride. It feels pretty nice. :)

I've recently been to a party with people from high school and as I was talking to some of them someone kinda just said "Your ring... I get it! Are you ace too!?" out of the blue and that made me happy. When you find each other... it's pretty awesome.

I'd like to get myself one online but I don't know what my ring size is. :/

I like the idea actually. I've always liked discreet ways of showing things. Something that not everyone knows about. The thing with the rainbow flag and the asexual flag is that it's really rather obvious. Too many people know. Whereas the ring, to me, seems a bit more intimate in the community simply because not too many people are aware of it. And besides, it's not like other people can't wear black rings on whichever finger they'd like. I don't think it identifies me as an asexual, rather it's a way for me to feel like I am not hiding it.

I'm not out to my parents and they pay my credit card, so ordering online is a nope. I could probably play it off no problem, but I guess I'm a little paranoid.

Same with me. I think I'd quite like to get one, but there's no chance of ordering it online and I would have to buy it when I'm out with my friends (which doesn't happen very often) and then hide it from my parents. I don't know my ring size either, and I would just prefer to go into a random shop and see a nice one on the jewellry stand (preferably for under £5)- but what are the chances of that happening? I've never seen a black ring being sold in any shop I've ever been to.

That sounds amazing. I would love for that to happen.

I've been considering getting a ring! The beginning of November marks my fifth year of being out as ace. I'd love to commemorate the occasion somehow, plus show off a little pride. I'm not a big ring-wearer, but I thought I might try. I love the idea of someone random seeing it and knowing what it is, :)

To Amethystkitty, Your ring was made of hematite which is a natural stone. Actually, its iron ore. So if u smack ur hand hard or drop it, it will break. If u like an ace of spades necklace I just bought a really sharp one from ebay. Its a dogtag. 9.85 with free shipping.I wish I knew how to put pics up. I think so many others would love it. Reminds me of either goth style or maybe steampunk sortof??????

I never wore rings before...I'm not a jewelry person, but when I got my ace ring(s), I haven't stopped wearing one! I have a matte black ring that I got at a local fair with my dad (though he doesn't know the significance of it lol), and then another one on Amazon that's an infinity sign in silver with black crystals on it (so it isn't as "obvious" as a black ace ring, but it still holds the meaning for me). Wearing my matte black one right now. : ) I wear it for myself mostly...just makes me feel comfy and confident.

You can just buy a visa gift card or something similar and use that to order online.

I actually just asked my roommate to order a ring for me today. She told me she used the same account she uses to buy her sex toys. My roommate and I need our own sitcom.

Only people who are familiar with asexuality might actually know. Otherwise no one cares. I can wear it and no one knows what it means. When I tried a ring on my middle finger they didn't understand. They actually thought I didn't know what finger was that

Have u ever been to Walmart? They have a few. Problem is that they r like $ 38.00. So if u r on a limited budget it probably won't work. U have a better chance of finding an inexpensive one at a mall setting. You know those kiosks that r out in the open? You know, they sell silver jewelry or maybe the headshops or import stores that have mostly items that are made overseas. You can get a cheap hematite ring but it is a stone and if u drop it, its broken. I used to sell those.

Like many others here, I'm not a jewelry-wearer so I don't have a black ring. My mutant right middle finger is oddly shaped with some swelling issues, so If I ever do decide to get a ring, I'd wear it on my left. I'm also just really terrified of having the ring get stuck on my finger.

I'm on the fence whether I will or not. On one hand (not literally!), I don't like to wear rings. I invariably dent my head with a ring when I try to smash pesky mosquitoes. Secondly, I am a sun-worshipper and love the tan I get from sitting under the rays. I know skin cancer victim waiting to happen, especially, considering strong family history of such affliction. Anyway, a ring leaves a white ring where the sun wasn't able to do its blessing - obsessive I know! And, lastly, my ascetic nature generally rebels at the notion. On the other hand, I take a lot pride in being asexual and a material manifestation of that fact would be nice. I also, like many of you that have already posted, feel it would give me a sense that I'm not alone, that I'm not just wearing it for myself, but that by having it on my finger, I would feel that in a way I am embracing the entire ace community - that as I go through life you all, through that ring, will be with me. I also think it would be great to encounter someone wearing the ace ring. Indeed, I have yet to physically meet anyone who so self-identifies (as ace). I think I have come to a decision, a decision processed through writing. Yes, I think I will get one and wear it. To the jewellers here I come!

I don't like jewelry, but I was always wearing a brown wooden ring on my right middle finger, years before I read about ace rings. So a week ago I just bought a cheap but nice black ring and just replace the wooden one. It got too big for me anyway. I just like my new ring, and it reminds me that there is a community I belong to. Though I'm not sure I'll meet someone who knows the meaning of it :)

I like the idea of it but it confuses me as well. Like which finger are you supposed to slip it onto? And my mom dislikes the color black so she'd never approve.

Middle finger, right hand. :)

I don't like rings, or watches, or any "jewelry" for that matter, so I don't wear one.

I put an ace flag pin on my messenger bag that I take everywhere though. I have lots of pins on there, and people have looked at them and not really asked about any of them. It's mostly to remind me that I have a place in the world.

That said, I've only got 14 pieces of flair on there, which is below the 15 piece minimum. My boss has talked to me about that. Do I want to just do the bare minimum? Or do I want to "express myself"? :P

Damn I only have 7 pieces of flair on my bag, I gotta step my game up.

I really do like the idea, but I don't like the feeling of wearing rings so I probably won't get one.
