I must be in one of those moods. Maybe my End Of The World misery has led me to consider a similar situation. Holidays! Your least favourite holidays! For those in the U.K., I don't mean that dreadful four weeks spent cooped up in a caravan at soaked-by-rain-on-sea, but more along the lines of Christmas and New Years. And for our North American cousins, I don't mean holiday, vacation type, holidays.

Christmas has now become hell on Earth. New Years eve was always hell on Earth and Halloween involves an immense pressure to keep a boat load of sugar hungry kids happy. Bonfire night/Guy Fawkes/November 5th, is truly awesome, a night of wonderful smells, bright flashes, loud bangs and sparklers.

How's about it?

See, I don't particularly like Boxing Day as here in the US it's all about consumerism and buying what you didn't get for christmas and all that shit, but my least favorite is father's day, reason being that my father is a horrible human being and that holiday is just all "Oh look celebrate fathers yay!" and i have an amazing stepfather, but it's not the same, you know? He's the closest to a real father I'll ever get, and it's still not the same, because my blood father still exists and won't let me forget it. I hate him for it. So that is why I hate Father's Day.

But Boxing Day still sucks. Even if I can get $50 jeans for $10. It still sucks.

EDIT: I also don't like Easter but Easter has Cadbury Creme Eggs and those just make everyone a better person.

Easter. I don't really know what my problem with this day is but I HATE it. The color scheme is perky, the food is off-putting, the mythology is a disaster (bunnies and eggs) and I don't even like candy (or.., well, I like candy just not easter candy)

I also loathe father's day. Because every year you get the question "What are you gonna do for father's day?" and that very question should qualify as a act of pure evil  They run commercials on TV and ads in papers, happy well wishes and reminders that father's day is near show up on social media and other sites. Pictures of smiling people hugging their dads everywhere. It's torture every year.

I absolutely HATE Cadbury's Creme Eggs! Horrible sickly fondant!

Not keen on New Year festivities as they just remind me I'm getting older and have nothing to show for it. Saint Stephen's Day is the day after Christmas and everything just seems so flat and lifeless after the run up to and celebration of Christmas. Although it is also my beloved cat Mister's birthday.

Things such as Mother's Day and Father's Day also brown me off. They're just over commercialised money making ventures. Why should you need a special day to tell your parents you love them? (if you get on with them that is). They also pander to 'middle class values' of a so called happy family life which is an insult to those who don't have one.

I couldn't choose between New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, I just randomly picked the latter. OK, New Year's Day really is a little worse, but you get the picture: I hate both. The advent of January means that my favourite season (autumn; Christmas season) is officially over, shop owners start decorating their windows with spring flowers (spring is evil!) and days are getting longer, too. Gotta hate it.

I guess Guy Fawkes, just because people think he was this hero that stood for freedom when he actually wanted to force Catholicism onto everyone.

Christmas. I hate how commercial (buy, buy, buy) it has become, parking, shopping malls and it's lost meaning. Boxing Day comes in second.

Halloween. >> Because I'm easily scared lol! And I haven't gone trick-or-treating since I was maybe 7 or 8, so to me, there's just no point (I buy chocolate/candy all the time anyway). Second would be Boxing Day...and then April Fool's day, if that counts (it probably doesn't? But I still dislike it lol).

hmm well I love most of the holidays around Christmas cos I'm visiting with family usually, and particularly boxing day - not cos Iike shopping, but it's officially the start of the World Junior Hockey tournament each year which means I'm sufficiently entertained and drinking beers til I go back home to work. All of the other holidays on the list (other than Bonfire night which isn't celebrated in North America) usually involve friends, food, and fun so I like it.

The only one on the list I'm never really into is New Years Eve, because my friends usually want to go out to a club, and it's been a few years since I've really enjoyed that kind of thing. I don't hate it still, but it means I'm having the same amount of fun at a much higher price than a house party (and I'm not full of $$$). Usually it's tougher to have a conversation too as the music is pretty loud, so not the biggest fan.

I'm Jewish, so I don't like Christmas or Easter. Also, I'm American, so I don't celebrate Boxing Day.

I selected Christmas, because I hate how giant and commercialized its become. Starting in November Christmas songs are forced upon you everywhere you go and there so much pressure from stores to get tons of gifts. Its so stressful and everybody hates that "getting ready" part of Christmas. Then you get to the actual holiday, excited that all the stress you put up with for the last month and a half will be worth it, and its no more special than another holiday like Easter. Its such a let down.

Although, if Black Friday counted as a holiday I would pick that. I'm claustrophobic, so shopping is totally out of the question for me. Most years I don't even want to leave my house because I live behind a really popular shopping center so the traffic makes it nearly impossible to get out of my neighborhood. My aunt also works in retail, so the last few years she's had to leave thanksgiving dinner early to go work, which sucks because Thanksgiving is by far my favorite holiday. :(

I'm not so crazy about Valentine's Day. It's so alienating of a day.

Christmas Day for me, because it seems like everywhere in the world celebrates Christmas so vociferously in the months leading up to it that, once it finally comes around, it turns out there's nothing to celebrate anymore.

I despise Thanksgiving. People pretend like they care about their family or are thankful for anything. Nothing is more pretentious to me than a holiday all about being thankful that is followed by a day where people try and kill each other over material objects. It's disgusting.

I like the idea but it would be better if I wasn't single lol.

I'm in the US, and I don't have a problem with any holiday, except the ridiculous ones like Valentine's Day, which everyone makes a huge fucking deal out of but I don't even get paid time and a half for. I actually quite like the others, especially Halloween and Christmas, even Saint Patrick's Day. :P

I've always hated Thanksgiving. Autumn is depressing to me - browns and oranges and everything's dying. I've been a vegetarian since I was about 10. Growing up, I was the black sheep of the family to an extreme. Now, it's basically just me and my mom. I'm only in contact with my grandmother even though all of my immediate family is within close walking distance in this small town. (Mere blocks.) I'm not into tradition, I don't like pretending there was any happy feast between friendly pilgrims and welcoming Native Americans, and I'm not patriotic. I always request to work Thanksgiving. My manager is only now catching on that I'm not doing it just as a favor. I really prefer to see patients and their families appreciate what they have together than sit at home and do nothing. The holiday pay is good and my coworkers can spend time with their families. I do use the holiday as an excuse to make gluten free stuffing and cranberry sauce, I will admit. Other than that, I really hate Thanksgiving.

I never did anything for bonfire night (other than watch fireworks from a window) and now I hate it because one of my dogs is petrified of them and she goes crazy and nothing can stop her. Also people keep setting off fireworks for days (sometimes weeks) before and after bonfire night. For New Year's the fireworks are generally all focused around midnight....

With no one to celebrate a holiday, holidays are just another day. They seem to be for bringing people together.

Between death, indifference and dislike, it's only me.

Due to greed and desperation, most stores are open on the holidays now, so it's easy to ignore them.

If I had to choose a least favorite: Father's Day. To me, fathers are worthless, bullying, low-life scumbags.

Valentine's Day is another load of overcommercialised crap. Love is just love. Why have a special day just for lovers?

Also Hallowe'en. I just don't get trick or treating or any other celebration associated with it (I especially hate it as it close to the time my mother died). It's all nonsense.

I voted New Year's Day because I usually spend the day wondering how the hell I made it through the past year and how the hell am I going to make it through the new one.

Yes. I just refer to it as VD and leave it at that ;)

I begrudge every penny that I have to spend on Fathers Day. Why I should have to contribute to a man who contributes(d) nothing to my life, is beyond me.

I used to love Christmas. I would begin to get excited in September, even as an adult. Now, now I begin to dread it in July. This is going to be even worse. If there are any Game of Thrones out there, imagine a Lannister get-together. Tyrion, Tywin, Jaime, Cersei, Joffrey, all of them, all together and enjoying that love and affection that they have for one another. It would be wonderful, wouldn't it. Hold that thought, then transplant it with my family. Less swords and beheading, more cheese knives and fake, shallow gestures. Same amount of back stabbing and political shenanigans
