I'm Wiccan so I definitely dislike Easter and Christmas with a burning fiery passion.

I chose Christmas because it's honestly just an excuse for people to waste crap tons of money on things people are only going to use for a short period of time. The prices go up, the quality goes down, and mass production wins again. Coming from a family where money has been tight for years and years I think it's just a money-grab from those of us who can't afford to pay hundreds of dollars to get gifts for people when we can barely afford a roof over our heads as is.

Thanksgiving is the most boring holiday on record. It's all about food and Am. football and really cheesy holiday movies of the type that might give you a sugar overload, if you don't have that already from dinner... Also, my birthday happens to fall around and, on occasion, on the day, so there is rarely a separation between the two. On the upside, I can always have a birthday party for my favorite, long running, science fiction series. It gives me a great deal of sympathy for folks whose birthdays actually fall on things like Christmas or during Hanukkah or some other major religious holiday.

Christmas is a close second on the least favorite holidays. The only good thing is that I actually get time off from work around both these days, plus Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day. US Americans are very bad about taking holidays/vacations, so these days off are a rare, precious gift. sigh

I actually like most of them for one reason or another, although perhaps not always (or even often) for the reason that one typically would like the holiday.

Valentine's Day is my least favourite. It strikes me as so... pointless. Perhaps I don't understand it properly, but if you love somebody, why would you need a particular day to celebrate that? Would you not do it always? Therefore, the main thing I see Valentine's Day as is "excuse to be annoying in public, even more than you already are" day. Plus, it almost always seems to fall on a show weekend, and I am sick of turfing cast members' romantic interests out of backstage where they still do not belong even if it's bloody Valentine's Day.

I have some similar issues with Mother's Day and Father's Day. For one thing, I don't see the need to separate them, and "Parents Day" would make more sense. For another, again, don't you love your parents the whole year (assuming that you have parents, and do love them)? It's weird. Also, all of the ridiculously stereotypical marketing surrounding it makes me want to punch things.

St. Patrick's Day is also often an annoyance for me, because at least around where I live, it seems to just be an excuse for people to get ridiculously drunk. Which means that it's almost indistinguishable from from a home football game, except that there's slightly more green attire... and more shamrock symbolism.

I do have some issues with Thanksgiving based on the history of the holiday, but as "chill at home and eat good food day", it's pretty good.

I liked Halloween better when I could still actually participate in it. I don't like that, at least here, it's basically a fun day for kids and everybody else basically has no good way of celebrating unless they want to just decorate for the heck of it or something (and I'm not much for decorating things).

Christmas is my favourite, but that's probably partly because it's a long holiday in the winter, I get to spend lots of time with all my family, it's a good time to actually get some fires going in the fireplace, and I find the decorations for the most part cheery. People really need to stop playing the most annoying variants of Christmas carols known to man beginning immediately after Halloween is over, though. That sets my teeth on edge.

I voted for Halloween. To me it is a useless holiday that I never enjoyed, even when I was little. There's pressure to buy sweets for children and constant knocking on the door is annoying.

Mother's/Father's day - the general public is insensitive to/ignorant about scenarios of abusive or absent parents.

I am a government employee so I love government holidays because I always get the day off. ;)

4th of July/American Independence Day - it's an excuse for lots of fireworks and noise and drinking and crowds and often thoughtless patriotism. None of which I enjoy (well, a good, but distant fireworks display can be good, but not random firecrackers around the neighborhood. Scares the animals.) The only good thing about it is getting the day of from work.

I chose Easter as my least favorite. I honestly don't know why I dislike it so much but it probably has something to do with my mom forcing me to wear big fluffy dresses as a kid.

To be honest though, I'm not a big fan of any holidays. The only thing that I enjoy about them is the cheap candy and sales afterwards.

Every holiday kinda sucks and seems pointless now for some reason.

My mother died a few days before Christmas. This is also the reason why I am not a fan of Mother's Day.

I also don't get the hype about buying everybody presents and stuff. Sure, it's nice, but then people get all picky about whenther you got the right present and it then becomes upsetting. My aunt used to make me feel like a heartless b***h because I'd choose a present, but it wasn't thoughtful enough, and if Christmas wasn't already ruined for me because of the death, it was certainly ruined for that reason.

Anyway, that was a downer reason. My favourite is New Year's Eve; I like staying up late, in a nutshell, and from time to time it's nice not to be the only night person in the house :D
