WhenSummersGone
This is just a quick question that I'm wondering about. If someone identifies as asexual/demi/gray but they have Hypersexuality, maybe due to Bipolar or even Borderline Personality Disorder, does that change their orientation? eched
I don't see how hypersexuality would change orientation. To my understanding hypersexuality is just a crazy, over the top sex drive, so I would imagine an asexual with it might very well respond to it differently then a sexual would(I'm thinking an asexual would over masturbate, or maybe any number of other things), but they still might have sex as a result just cause the whole situation has gotten them sexually curious. None of this means they would be sexually into anyone. Heck, if all the ace person does is masturbate they might not even have sex at all from it.

I was just at the doctor today discussing my mood/emotional problems. I don't feel it should change someone's orientation either.
Shae
Hi WSG!I have bipolar, and have experienced hypersexuality in the past. It kept me from identifying as an ace, because "If I want sex, I can't be asexual, right?". But there are so many reasons one could want to have sex/masturbate, and only one of them is feeling attracted to someone. When I realized I wasn't sexually attracted to the people I was sleeping with, it cleared up things quite a bit.

Now that I think about it I actually wouldn't be sexually turned on by any partner or even really want sex if I did it. It wouldn't be satisfying. In the rare times I get really lonely or I feel curious about sex again I realize it is just my emotions and libido talking. I know that Demisexual fits me best even with all the other stuff going on.
Shae
Unfortunately, I wasn't very graceful about handling it, I had an affair :(
WhenSummersGone
Unfortunately, I wasn't very graceful about handling it, I had an affair :( Oh I'm sorry to hear that :( Have you tried any medication that has helped?
Shae
I've been on more medications that I can count, but I haven't had a manic episode in two years, so I guess they are helping.
