In an ideal life, I would live with a queerplatonic partner, but I would also be comfortable with a romantic or nonexistent relationship. Partner or no partner, I want a cat or dog.

I have lived alone for too long, and hate it. I just want a sort of glorified flatmate to share life with, without getting soppy or romantic about it

I don't mind living with my immediate family, it's safer for me to live with a few people rather than on my own, because I can't drive to go out anywhere and it's more secure with a few people living together, I can always find solitude, however, and often have the house to myself.

I actually feel much safer living alone than with other people. How do I know I won't get killed? Same time though I lived alone for 1 year and livEd in a shared house with strangers for 1 year. It was cool.

One of my ambitions has always been to live alone. Only yourself to please, no one to annoy you. Ambition fulfilled.

When one lives alone, life is trouble free.

I will eventually live on my own, but I enjoy my current living situation I live with my Mum, Dad and brother and they give me my space when needed and they are often out so I get a lot of my own time and company when wanted. I'm quite happy with my situation.

I am a house sitter and spend most of my time alone in "strange" houses. I love it!

In between jobs I stay at my parents house... I hate it.

I can't stand sharing my space with other people. I feel perfectly OK alone in a house, especially with animals (who are alert to strange noises. If the animal is not concerned, then it's a normal sound, and I shouldn't be worried either.)

I do worry about if something happens. medically, or mechanically (with the house, etc.). I also worry some about finances. But, I plan to live in a tiny space, which will reduce the cost of living. And I plan to live in a tight community, and will [hopefully] have neighbors close by.

Edit:

The only way I could live with someone is if we had a duplex, or something, and each lived in separate units.

Trigger warning

I live alone in a rental, it is nothing more than a granny flat really, but it stands alone. Sadly it shares a path, gerden, clothesline and laundry, but I can't afford to have everything. I have a telephone, and neighbours close enough to hear me scream. But there is the distinct possibility that if I didn't live alone I would be so stressed and miserable that I would kill myself anyway. Seriously, I was so much more depressed/passively-suicidal when I only had a room to myself and shared facilities. I am much happier now. My parents are always there on the phone, or for visits. Being alone does make me feel safer, from myself at least.

Find me a job that allows me to live happily in a small Yorkshire village and I'd be more than happy. Preferably by myself but I'd be ok with perhaps a pleasant work colleague or romantic partner. :)

I live with my parents and I'm so scared of living alone...I think about it all the time, but something tells me I'll probably lose my mind completely when it happens. As much as I like having my space and being by myself when I'm working or doing something I enjoy, I know I'd feel incredibly lonely. As for having roommates...I tried that and I can say it can work only with people I am very close to. I'd really have to get along with a friend, to enjoy sharing my house with somebody. It would be nice to live with my soulmate, but I'd have to fight against my avoidant traits, I guess. I have mixed feelings about all this.

Upon reflection, I believe I wouldn't mind having a roommate. A queerplatonic relationship, or a asexual female friend. :)

I was talking with my sister and she agreed that having some kind of room of one's own would be a very good thing. A space where you can shut the door and not have to let anyone in if you don't want to. At least some kind of hobby room or den or something, but she would also prefer a bathroom of her own. She's been married, is not asexual, and isn't particularly introverted, but still sometimes wants to be alone, sometimes even to sleep alone.

I am very much looking forward to living alone once I'm fully independent. (Partially because I'm such a light sleeper! Can't handle other people walking about when I'm trying to sleep!) I doubt I will ever truly be alone though, because I honestly can't see myself living without at least one cat for very long. In contrast with the crazy cat lady idea, I think I'd lose it without any little fluffy friends...

It took me a minute to get that, even though I am actually reading one of James Harriot's books right now.

How's that for brain power?

Living alone would be quite wonderful but I'd much rather live with my beloved. She can protect me from whatever burglars may try and harm me.

A bit dark, sad but here goes. I agree with 'Ace-TheTimelordsCompanion' on this one. I'm past it now, I think, but I was more able to self harm and make the several suicide attempts while living solitary. Being around others is a safety net, and they can cheer me up. They also help to work on my sophomoric social skills.

Does anyone else live with roommates who sing?

I love being by myself. Moving back to my parents' place was the worst that could possibly have happened to me, but fortunately, it was only a transition state. I prefer to choose for myself when and where I meet other humans. I don't like having humans in my space. I could have a cat or a dog or something, if I get lonely. Or a fish. Fish are nice. But no humans. Humans can stay in their own homes. If I die, I die. That could happen even if there were several people around me. In fact, it might sooner happen if there are lots of people around me. I'm less likely to do stupid things when I'm alone.

I love having a place all to myself! <3 I'm a natural worrier so of course I have concerns about safety (or dying and my body goes undiscovered for a month), but it beats the stress of living with people. No matter how nice someone is, spending every day with them is going to drive me crazy. Even staying with my parents for the holidays can become an ordeal, and we don't have a particularly strained relationship.
