I like a lot of alternative/indie music, sometime I like more electronic, and occasionally I get in the mood for classical (as in violin/piano)

I'll listen to just about anything, but most of my favorites are in rock, metal, pop, alternative, and their sub-genres. :o

I listen to anything but country music.

I have three main pandora stations:

  • Industrial, which has a lot of instrumental thrown in. Nine Inch Nails, followed by "Fukaki Umi No Kanata" by the Yoshida Brothers, followed by White Zombie, followed by a cello piece? Sounds perfect to me.
  • Calabria 2008, by Enur, which is a mixture of Latin and electronic. Lots of electronic.
  • Calabria (Club Mix), which essentially became a mixture of Latin and other pop. Lots of pop.

I listen to almost everything, except for country. I cannot stand country. But I don't hunt for "asexual" songs, and most of my favorites have some innuendo built into them.

i find that now that i discovered asexuality, and myself in that larger sense, that i look more for the philosophical ideas and ideas of love makes me want to change it. that is why i like rush because they never talk about love and other BS like that, they talk about politics and philosophy.

I like classic rock, blues, some folk and pop, and musicals.
I do enjoy a lot of songs about love and sex, but I generally need them to have great instrumentals or thoughtful and/or witty lyrics to enjoy them. In other words, I like the content, not the subject matter- but that goes for all songs.
Actually, it has just occured to me that a lot of my favourite sex-themed songs are tongue-in-cheek- or at least, I've always interpreted them that way.

Music is a passion of mine, but I'm very picky about the music I like. I hardly stray from the following genres:

Classic rock, arena rock, alternative rock (nothing too modern though), Motown, and new wave rock. Love songs get old, and songs about sex are just annoying. I prefer deep, meaningful songs.

I love music with all my heart. I don't think being asexual influences my liking in music, though. I mean if a song is really explicit and sexual I won't listen to it because it makes me feel uncomfortable. Other than that I think my music liking is all based on what I like.

I'm most fond of metal (including various subgenres), and then I also like some rock and some punk/alternative. I don't think that my orientation has much impact on my musical preferences, but it's rather hard to say, really. I do have little patience with love songs in general, unless they are particularly good musically, so I suppose there may be some influence there. I also enjoy classical music.

Truth and Lies

Music is a huge part of my life. It is difficult for me to image living without it. I have a rather eclectic taste in music. Generally speaking, I will listen to most everything and anything, with the exceptions of rap and jazz and some 70s, 80s, disco music, and such. I love metal, country, R&B, rock, alternative, instrumental, classical, pop, world, new age, heavy metal, J-Pop, K-Pop, music in every language I can find.

I sometimes listen to bluegrass, dupstep and electronica. Even rap and jazz have their exceptions (such as the entire soundtrack of Princess and the Frog; love it). I have favorites from all genres. I tend to go through phases of listening to particular genres, though. Last year I went through about a three-month period of listening to 99% Japanese music.

I do not believe my orientation has any effect whatsoever on what music I listen to. Some songs I listen to may be overtly sexual, and I am okay with that. Some of them I listen to mostly for the energy of the music. It's actually songs that are subtle with their references to sexual things that make me uncomfortable. I also adore love songs of every variety, happy, sad, what have you. I like what I like.

I listen to pop/j-pop/k-pop (it's all pop lol). I don't think my sexuality has influenced what I listen to, I just think in general I like to listen to songs that are fun and have a cool beat. I don't like really vulgar songs, but that's not related to my sexuality I don't think, I just find it really uncomfortable to listen to.

I listen mostly to soundtracks..mainly movie, anime, and video game soundtracks since there's a lot of variety to found there. I do like mainstream music too..I own a few Katy Perry and Maroon 5 albums. But I don't think my asexuality plays a part in what I like when it comes to music.

I can't stand music with romantic/sexual lyrics (and dancing/alcohol/partying/money is boring to me), so I listen almost exclusively to music without lyrics, mostly soundtracks to my favorite games and shows. The music with lyrics that I listen to is very rarely about romance or sex, and also usually from soundtracks. I don't like romantic/sexual lyrics because they've been shoved down my throat all my life, and remind me that I can't have/ don't want the things that the rest of the world thinks is the best experience a human will ever have, and all one should really want. So much media is telling me that the only way to be happy is to fall in love and have sex, and I'd rather avoid this being yelled at me as much as possible.

Yep, music's always been my Aspie obsession, which means I've got to understand all the techniques, tricks and inner workings. Also means I can't perform it too often (the ability's there if I practice) - it's complicated. If I recognize a song, it's fairly likely I can also name the year, recording location (different studios used different tape formulations, equalization curves and mastering protocol), at least one of the session players (if used), producer (often identifiable by the selection, balance and placement of instruments as well as compression levels and use of effects such as echo, reverb or phasing/Leslie, esp. on voices). If I don't know the year outright, I can usually infer it from the mixdown sound and whether it was processed for LP, AM or FM radio, (analog) television or digital streaming. MP3s don't stop sounding "fake" or otherwise digitally flensed until 192 bitrate or better (must also be "true" stereo; joint stereo has unlistenable levels of crosstalk and phase cancellation between channels.)

You'd think all that would kill any ability to just enjoy the music, but it's all good. :)

I listen to a lot of things: pop, rock, classical (both modern and traditional), ambience, Nightcore... I also listen to world music in various languages, usually Japanese but I do like some Russian music as well.

I wouldn't say my music has an influence on my romantic/sexual orientation. I'm not a fan of love songs because they're drastically unrealistic (and in some cases just desperate... I'm looking at you Call Me Maybe), but there are odd ones that I do like.

My choice of music usually depends on the rhythm and melody more than the lyrics. I'm less likely to listen to love songs because the lyrics would drive me nuts, but those I do like have nice melodies that resonate with me, and that's what draws me to them. So I could listen to any type of music so long as it strikes a chord with me. :)

I love nineties music. I like to listen to world beat kinda stuff in my apartment. I also listen to a lot of Broadway albums. My favorites are the ones for Hair, Spring Awakening, Godspell, Rent, Les Miserables. Oh, and lately I have all but worshiped Taylor Swift.

I listen to a whole bunch of stuff, but there is a predominance of showtunes (a lot of Disney stuff, not sure that counts) Jpop/Kpop (admittedly a lot of the Jpop I listen to consists of anime songs), and a smattering of popular stuff old and new from a few different genres.

I sometimes listen to EDM in addition to my usual indie alt-rock.

I like a lot of music genres, but I mainly listen to heavy metal, techno, electronica, acid jazz, classical, and chiptunes. So far, I like everything I've listened to except rap, gospel, and country.

I used to be a full out metalhead and rather elitist *cringes*, now I've rather broadened my scope and listen to a variety of stuff, basically a mix of whatever appeals to me across genres. Still a lot of metal (mainly folk metal, or symphonic, and give me all the Nordic metal, preferably Finnish), hard rock, a bit of indie rock, classical, even techno, remixes, nightcore (don't hit me, it's a guilty pleasure of mine), but also generic pop, random crap I pick up from the radio... I dunno. And I do have a soft spot for Vocaloid. Gakupo is my favorite.

Generally I like either upbeat songs with a catchy melody or a good beat... or the heavy doom and gloom type. The best thing is a combination, a cheery/innocent sounding song with morbid lyrics. xD

What I generally dislike is country, blues and jazz... I haven't found anything I like in these areas. But it's not like I'm shutting anything out completely.

I *have* found that my asexuality probably influences what I listen to. I don't mind sexual lyrics, romance surprisingly grates on me a bit more (because it's EVERYWHERE and WAY OVERDONE) but I can tolerate it. But I've secondarily found a trend among my favorite bands, those I've bothered to look into further, beyond one or two songs - most, if not all, of them have songs that have nothing to do with love or relationships at all. Lordi? Pompous, borderline cliché horror with cool monster masks and a good dose of cheesy puns (it's why I love 'em). Korpiklaani? Alcohol of course, but also Finnish folklore, even stories from the Kalevala. Sabaton? History, mostly warfare. And so on and so forth.
