When it comes to gender descriptors, what are you comfortable with?

I do identify as female but I hate being called miss, girl and lady. They make me look younger than my age.

I'm female and older than most of you, so I don't mind Ma'am. That could also be because people around here say it a lot, out of respect or out of habit. I don't mind being thought of as a woman, as long as no one calls me Woman. That one bothers me a lot. I'm OK with chick, even though that wasn't an option. Not fond of gal, and I don't really have a reason as to why. I guess it just makes me think of westerns, and I just don't want to live in that time or place.

I'm a male. The descriptors I prefer the most are Male/Guy/Man. The other descriptions are O.K I suppose, except for boy. Calling me boy would be something I consider somewhat disrespectful.

what i really object to is - sweety, honey, babe the things that are used by men acting as if they respect me but making it obvious they consider me "less than" them

Unfortunately my preferred descriptors are rarely used.
