How old were you when you first experienced romantic attraction?

I think the very first time I was really romantically attracted to someone was when I was in high school. It didn't pan out; I was used as a sounding board and then quickly forgotten completely, but there it is!

I'm always surprised at people who had romantic attraction in middle school or elementary school. I found old "journals" we had to write when I was in like second or third grade and I wrote quite a bit about this one comedian in the class named Travis, haha. But I don't think that was proper romantic attraction, you know.

I chose my romantic orientation as "pan" because there have been two known instances amongst all the people I've been romantically attracted to or crushed on that were girls. I think if I get a really deep connection with someone, regardless of what gender they are, I could be romantically attached to them.

First crush.. pfft.. 8 maybe but I remember it way too lightly but the real deal happened when I was 11.

Wrote a whole chapter about how I met him, how our day went and the pain I felt after I had to leave.

The 14-20 age band (the one I voted for) seemed too wide to me... until I saw the results and was so surprised by the fact that so many people have felt romantic attraction earlier. Perhaps they counted kindergarten ones as full-blown, though I think they become intense only at a later age in most people (in conjunction with their physical and social maturation).

The poll is exactly 1-year-old today, so it's going to be archived when a new mod is elected (or before that if an admin spots it)... It was interesting!

I was in my mid twenties and taking a creative writing class. This guy walked in the room on the first day. My heart started beating fast and it was like the whole world vanished except for him. I thought I was going to pass out. I had never had such a strong reaction to someone before. He was in a relationship but we became really good friends.

All the threads for each month are archived at the end of that month, so technically some go a bit over the one year mark. This one will be archived around the end of May or the first of June. I'm still moderating this forum until after the election for it...I just archived April 2014 threads last week. :)

Never happened as of yet. I'm 24 and i doubt it ever will, but there are a few people here who got it first in the 20-30 range or even later, sooooo... I guess nothing is ruled out quite yet? :P Aromantic until proven otherwise though :P
