The placard design thread

  1. 1. Should we reuse placards from 2012, or make new ones?

    • Yes, reuse the placards from 2012 (minus the London 2012 part at the bottom)
      2
    • Make new placards, but reuse design elements and/or slogans
      2
    • Make new ones altogether

This is a thread calling for designs for the formal placards to be held up during the march. Another suggestion that's been made is providing materials for people to make their own placards, during lunch or during the break, in addition to the formal placards.

Here are the threads about placard design from 2012:

http://www.asexuality.org/en/topic/74773-placard-slogans-and-languages-announced/
http://www.asexuality.org/en/topic/75829-placards-draft-pictures-for-one-and-all/

The first thing to resolve is what approach do we want to take. Do we want to follow the approach done in 2012? Do we also want to reuse slogans and/or designs, or do we want to start anew?

EDIT: A poll has been added, and it's specifically for the printed placards. Anyone is still free to make their own placards.

I think we should use purple backgrounds and white font.

More contrast would attract more attention.

Plus it just looks better than boring old white.

White on purple sounds good. That was also the color scheme used for the shirts in WP 2012.

I don't know if the poll should be closed yet, but since all the votes so far are towards the latter two options, this'd be a good time to come up with suggestions for both slogans, and designs.

There are some here: http://www.asexuality.org/en/topic/62978-slogans-for-london-pride-parade/
(note: "Flaming asexual" was one of the major ones that was used in WP 2012)

and some here: http://www.asexuality.org/en/topic/89362-cute-asexual-quotes-for-t-shirts/

Bumping for urgency. If anyone has any suggestions, it's important to post them now.

We could reuse some of the slogans from WorldPride 2012, namely "This is what an asexual looks like" and "Not broken, not alone."

Another slogan that would be similar to the "Not broken, not alone" one is "Unscrewed, yet illuminating." We could also choose some from the Asexual Quotes for T-shirts thread.

There were good ones from 2012. Virtua has some good ones, too.
