Does anyone like being "sexy"?

Recommended Posts

Why are legs/ breasts supposed to be sexy though?? One is a flap of fat and the other is just a leg....so odd!

Also...why do people think fake curled eyelashes are sexy or huge high heel shoes?

I tend to dress to look nice - as a few have said, I like to be aesthetically pleasing without arousing sexual attention :P Nothing too low-cut or too short...I don't really like being stared at, so I don't dress for attention :)

In terms of what I look for in others, I'm like Marki - I look at eyes, they show a lot about people. I tend to look more at their behaviour, their treatment of other people, their approach to life, whether they make me laugh. These things are much more significant to me than their possible sexiness...

I think everyone here can definitely agree on that! I'm also a sucker for well dressed boys, of course my opinion of well dressed differs from others but yeah :)

Good question, and one very close to my heart! I spent the entirety of high school in baggy t-shirts and jeans. The ONE time I wore a tight/"girly" shirt (which a friend suggested I buy) to school, everyone in my class freaked right out and told me I could be a fashion model, or attract boatloads of boys if I showed myself off more. I very quickly put my oversized sweater back on, and never dressed that way again until well-after graduation. To this day, on off-days, I still dress in t-shirts and jeans and wear no makeup.

My teenaged self probably wouldn't believe that 15 years later she'd be a self-employed seamstress whose primary business is costuming burlesque artists and strippers, (especially not after surviving a marriage where I was regularly shamed by my husband for failing to dress and act in ways that gratified him sexually..) but here I am, and I love it. Furthermore, I've started performing burlesque myself, which makes things even more confusing for people when they discover that I'm not interested in attracting sexual attention. It's mostly just dress-up games, storytelling, (let's be honest here:) business promotion, and performance art to me, whether I'm onstage or off.

I love fashion, I love dressing up, and I take great pride in my appearance. First and foremost, I dress up for me, because I truly love it. I like expressing myself through what I wear and my makeup -- it's a large part of how I present myself to the world. Being "sexy" is part of that, sure. But like someone else mentioned, I also happen to think "sexy" things are pretty often "cute" -- aesthetically pleasing, anyway. So where I draw the line between wearing something because it's cute and because it's sexy can get pretty muddled.

That said, in terms of being overtly sexy... as in, lingerie (to which I have an unhealthy addiction), (intentionally) playfully short dresses, things like that... I definitely think that part of that for me is about power, too. I like having people attracted to me. It's flattering, yeah, but it also makes me feel powerful. And that can be hard to come by for a lot of women.

I like to look nice for myself (and who I am interested in, if I am), but I am generally repelled if it gets me attention from people I don't know. I won't allow them to keep me from feeling nice about myself, though.

I perform, so my day-to-day wear (at least, when I have rehearsal on) is limited by the need to be able to move my body in more or less any direction, but I'm also still at sixth form so I can't wear anything that would be seen as "inappropriate", and because the theatre I perform at is quite far from my sixth form, I have no time to change between my last lesson and rehearsal - so on most days I wear leggings and an oversized top. I do actually really like that aesthetic, even though I don't think people consider it "sexy".

I can appreciate the aesthetic appeal of things that are typically seen as sexy, like fishnets and short skirts, but - even when I'm not working - I rarely dress in that style, because it's so uncomfortable. And I really hate wearing low-cut tops, even though apparently I have a nice neck?

I'd like to attract people and wouldn't mind being considered 'sexy', if not too much of that. But the fact is that I'm not at all sexy or hot, no-one's ever hitting on me for that. A few times someone tried to hit on me, because they were seeking for a kind little wife to take care of them. BLAH!

I still like dressing up nice sometimes. It's up to my mood. So I'm not attractive, BUT I can feel that way, if I'm wearing some very nice clothes. I also like my body and most likely wear clothes that show my ...umm... figure. As I was younger I used a lot of mini skirts, fishnet tights and heels, and I think it was very confusing to other people, since I had the face of a very young Sunday school teatcher! No, really! I was seeking for attention, and I got it, but not sexually - and that's fine too. Sometimes I miss those old days and would like to wear some of those "sexy" clothes again, but I can't imagine myself walking with high heels all day anymore, and the miniskirts... mostly too cold, uncomfortable and not suitable at my work. But let's see, maybe some day, now that the summer is coming. Let's forget the fishnet, but the mini skirt I could try!

I want to look nice as in aesthetically attractive. Sexy no. I am simply uncomfortable with the attention it inevitable draws. I am just uncomfortable showing too much skin anyway. Not that I don't have a nice figure but too much skin is not something I was every comfortable with. No offense to anyone but I attended a burlesque show once and I will just say it was not for me. But power to those who embrace the skin they are in!

Yes I do, but its to make myself feel good not anyone else. I don't show off any skin but I still feel sexy in my own mind and I think thats what counts not anyone elses opinion.

I use to dress up sexy for myself sometimes :P

and I like overly flirting with random people.... I guess I like it when people get excited in that way.

but I don't like it when they expect something..... though its more than just for myself, it's somewhat for them too........ This would all work out if I was, like, a burlesque dancer with patrons that didn't harass me.......

Yes! I love low cut shirts and mini skirts and all that. Really, though, it's just that that is the sort of fashion I like! Also if I think I look good, it makes me feel better about myself. So whether the look I'm going for is "cute", "gorgeous", "sexy", whatever- as long as I like how it looks, I'm glad to wear it :)

Im not sure this counts but i like to wear sexy, brightly coloured panties and bras, more too feel girly and sexy to myself. I like high heeled boots as well, for the same reason,

But if i go to the effort of 'sexing' myself up for others i like to feel cute, feminem and sexy, where im noticed. I like compliments, especially from women..even though im hetero ACE..

I also find a cute, nice smelling guy in a suit sexy. Also a tall, lean guy with am accent and a long trench coat and long hair sexy..

All I ever wear is jeans, huge baggy t-shirts, and pj bottoms. I feel too exposed when dressed "sexy", even though my "sexy" clothes would be almost "prudish" to others (no skirts above the knee, no tight pants, no cleavage (what cleavage??) showing). I do like wearing cute and colorful underwear, but no one sees me in it, and I'd be embarrassed if anyone did.
