Every time I wear make up I get an eye infection or pink eye. It's bad karma for me I guess. xP

I wear makeup almost every day and I have since I was 13 (I'm 17 now). I've gotten extremely lazy this year though and to the point of I don't care what people think, it's my last year of high school, so I've gone days at a time where I put on no makeup whatsoever. I try not to do that often though, partially because I get so many comments that "wow you look so good today," "you don't need to wear makeup, you're already pretty," or "you look better without makeup." I find these comments somewhat offensive and downright irritating because they imply that I wear makeup only in order to make myself beautiful, and that idea couldn't be farther from the truth!

I stared wearing light makeup because I had acquired trichotillomania (I'm not going to try to explain it's complexities, just look it up; it's essentially a hair-pulling disorder) that caused me to pluck out almost all of the lashes on my bottom eyelids. My mom admittedly bought me mascara and eyeliner out of fear that I would look weird or get picked on for missing eyelashes, but I decided that the eye makeup would help me keep my hands off of my lashes throughout the day (which it did as I became aware of my picking and refrained from touching my eyes so I wouldn't get makeup smudges on my fingers). I also figured that because I had to wear makeup for dance competitions and didn't like other people near my face, I might as well learn to apply it myself.

So for four years I've worn makeup to keep my eyelashes intact. I've gone through phases where I've only continued using mascara because I really didn't want to help anybody feel attracted to me in any way, but last summer I upped my makeup regime because I think makeup is fun to wear and I like to experiment with different products. Through this year, I've discovered both pros and cons to my continued use of makeup.

Cons: people might think I'm self-conscious or conceited (in which case screw 'em!), or people might become insanely attracted to me (understandable since I'm gorgeous even with a bare face :P )

Pros: keeps hands from eyes, I feel awake and connected to the world, my mom says I look more mature with makeup rather than like a ten year old so I don't have to put up with that repeated comment, I can make awesome faces when I actually have eyebrows (mine are strawberry blonde invisible), and finally I don't have to listen to annoying comments such as "you look better without makeup" or "are you sick? You look tired" or "WHY ARENT YOU WEARING MAKEUP TODAY?" (PS That's none of your fricken business!)

I just wear mascara and foundation, nothing too complicated

Eh, pretty much never. I've got some stuff for my eyes to make them look less tired, but I hardly ever use that. It doesn't seem to do much anyway. :/

I rarely use perfume. I'm a sucker for anything that smells nice though, so I tend to buy some if I like it enough, and it's not expensive stuff.

Yay Gir! ^_^ Oh, and as someone who easily gets styes from spoiled eye makeup, I just wanted to say that this can often be avoided by making sure to dump old eye makeup after you've used it for more than a few months. Otherwise, they become a breeding ground for bacteria. Of course, you could just be allergic or something, in which case it's probably good to either not wear eye makeup at all or find something that doesn't irritate your eyes.

I used to do up my face every day in high school. I then went to college, where I was outside a lot, walking between classes, and it was hot and humid. There wasn't any point anymore. I've been in the workforce for about 7 years and don't wear any makeup. Of course, I'm a programmer, and programmer girls aren't really expected to be girly anyway.

When I do myself up, I do the whole kit-n-caboodle, complete with contouring sometimes. That's usually only Easter mass, Christmas mass, and special dates with the hubz.

I do wear perfume pretty much every day though.

I only wear mascara. I have really pale eyelashes, so I just think it looks better. I put on make-up for my "prom", but I don't think I'd do it now if I had another ball or something coming up.

Hmm yes, I didn't think about that ^^; I heard when you wear makeup, there are more dust mites living on your skin than when you don't wear any. But I'm not sure if that's true or not. Next time I wear it, I'll try to make sure it's not 6 years old first. Thanks!

I'm a guy who wears eyeliner and foundation, fills in his eyebrows, and contours his cheekbones. Why? Because I like doing it. I LOVE doing eyeliner, whether it's on me or not. I feel more confident, too, and i've yet to be made fun of for it. (you can't tell beyond the eyeliner anyway so it's nbd).

People's reasons are more interesting than their answers.

I always wear makeup to work, just as I always wear nice clothes. It's expected and it's kind of a ritual - like putting on my body armour before I go into battle ;)

When I'm off, it depends on my mood. I never wear makeup when I do sports and I never wear eyeliner - people who cannot draw a straight line on paper shouldn't go anywhere near their eyes with pointy things...

I wear makeup once a year for an annual formal event at my youth group. The rest of the time, it's not worth the trouble.

I wore makeup all throughout high school. Over time I felt that it was expensive, more a luxury than a necessity. I was struck by the way that advertisements manipulated women to feel that they needed to look like airbrushed models and celebrities in order to be accepted. I disliked the idea of using products with animal ingredients or that came about via animal testing. Eventually, I just quit to barefaced and I've done it for so long now that it feels normal. Turns out people can't even tell the difference from when I did wear makeup.

I never wear anything close to makeup. Not even chapstick. I think such enhancements can look nice on ladies, but it's also nice to see how they look without it all.

I honestly think that makeup and perfume should not be in together because I wear makeup when I feel like it, but I do not use perfume because 9/10 times it irritates my nose.
