How do I handle this? Please read the story info before answering.
Story Type: Short story
Genre: Sci-fi
Reason for choosing genre: Sci-fi gives you a lot of freedom in choosing your story type. Sci-fi is one of the few genres where you get away with asexuality. Imagine trying to write an asexual romance and have people read it.
Story Synopsis:
People with strange powers are appearing. Some of the mutant powers are small-like changing color within a small spot. Other mutants have superhero like powers, with some in the middle. The most powerful are asexuals.
The most powerful is Hank Smith aka Solar Warrior (he's the hero). He rescues a female news anchor, Jessica Granger (the heroine), from a gang of stalkers.
Shortly afterwards, a terrorist group, the Tell-Jihad, hijacks the Space Shuttle and uses it to release an engineered virus. The mental effects of this virus make sexual people unable to function, but leaves asexuals intact. Hank, Jessica and other asexuals fight the Tell-Jihad.
Thank you

Are you trying to make a political statement as well? Is there something specific you want to say about Jihad?
Why is there a connection between asexuality and power level?
Why wouldn't asexuals be affected by a virus that effects sexual people, what does the virus attack that would hurt one and not the other?
Is so strongly tying asexuality and mutation such a good thing?
Do you really want people to make the connection between Lois Lain from Superman and your heroin (as she is a very well known female news woman, though for a paper, who gets attached to a super hero)?
My answer to your question:
Well, it's a short story so it's going to be difficult... but by showing a deeper connection between the main characters then all those stories full of lust do. She might be aware that he isn't bad looking but the emphasis needs to be on personality and their interaction. A need for human connection despite a lack of desire for sex.
I'm not sure if that answers your question at all? You question was either about the development of the relationship, her realization, or the conclusion as she realizes she's asexual... I picked development but I could be wrong.

hmm...you'd need to be careful using religious words such as Jihad in the context of asexuality...

well, maybe there's something in the asexuals' systems (the mutation itself, perhaps?) that take over their bodies that strengthens their immune systems. just a thought.
& before i hit the submit button...

maybe because sexual people spend so much time thinkking about getting laid that the job never gets done.
not to mention the fact that (& i'm using clinton as an example) receivng favors under the desk of the oval office kind of screws w/ the job. it was no coincidence that he kept sending missiles over there to blow up some part of iraq (or whatever the hell happened... didn't really pay attention to the whole democratic run of office).
k, i need food......... :?

Maybe the virus is called "sex"

How can you have asexual porn?? porn is by nature something to do with forbidden acts like sex. There's nothing forbidden about having no sex (well except symbollically in this culture) and if there is no sex in it, it ceases to be porn.
dictionary definition of pornography: " Sexually explicit pictures, writing, or other material whose primary purpose is to cause sexual arousal."
Asexual porn, therefore, it would seem wouldn't actually be porn.
Thoughts?

"asexual porn" can be anything that asexual people see as an outlet, in my view.
Hey! Who wants to watch some asexual porn (play Diablo 2) with me
I don't think I would call these things asexual porn in every day life though hehe.

well done you!!
pornography as a meaning is "explicit material", and may be anything, maybe gardening magazines or holiday brochures, "of a sexual nature" is implied all too often....
