Girls with glasses

Recommended Posts

The friendly welcome has encouraged me to confess some of my darker secrets ;).

Here we go: I always felt strangely fascinated by women with glasses. I just can´t help it, it´s much more fascinating to me than cleavages or miniskirts or legs or something usual. It is nothing sexual (at least I think so) because it is purely a fascination of the mind.

And I´m not very happy with it. I think it´s rather unfair towards all the women without glasses because there are certainly a lot of them with a brilliant mind and personality, because such important things do not depend on some optical accessory on their noses. I feel generally drawn towards smart people, but glasses make the effect much stronger.

Is this what is generally called a fetish? Where does it come from? Inferiority complex? I know there is even special porn for glasses fetishism but to me all kinds of porn are simply disgusting, maybe even more so if it involves girls or women with glasses. It just...violates something.

Any thoughts on that? Is it offensive to women? Anyone else with the same problem? It´s of course all just theoretical, because no woman (with or without glasses) would ever be interested in me in real life.

Is it offensive to women?

No. It's a bit like saying you only like rock music. Classical musicians are not going to be offended. It's what you like for whatever reason.

On the other hand, this woman is offended.

Nah, I dont like south asian or black guys but it doesnt make me racist. (Clearly, I'm so mixed race I couldn't be racist if I tried). Taste is fine, it's what makes variety have some purpose my friend. Enjoy, if you get a gf just give her clear glasses for those steamy asexy nights of boardgames and films watching. ;)

I don't really find it offensive... you like what you like! I'd just embrace it & don't let it bother you.

So long as you aren't objectifying or fetishizing someone, you're fine.

And even if you were, you definitely aren't alone - there are tons and tons of sources for (sexual) people who love ladies who wear glasses.

Yes its a fetish, its quite a big one in otaku society in Japan called megane.

It's really only a fetish if it's sexual. One dictionary definition for fetish reads, "any object or nongenital part of the body that causes a habitual erotic response or fixation." So if your fascination is not sexual in origin, it doesn't apply.

I couldn't resist. Ace porn (w/glasses)!

:P Apologies if that offends--will remove if it does.

Honestly, the glasses preference are no different than any other aesthetic feature on a person. I wouldn't take it personally as a brunette if someone preferred redheads, etc., etc. You like what you like. ^_^

Hhahaha, I get what your saying. I myself was always Jealous of my sister for having glasses because I thought glasses made people look better. I stopped after an age because I didn't want bad vision, but when I got glasses almost two years ago a part of me was happy. Though sadly I sometimes seem like one of those people who look better without them.

Though it is different from what you are talking about because I'm not fascinated by them on men (I'm heteroromantic). Though I do have a thing for curly hair I think...

Are you going to be fascinated by me now? :P

This topic made me smile enough for me to offer you some :cake::cake:

I guess there are guys out there who prefer women who wear glasses - fetish or otherwise. Its just that I kind of assume that the norm is than men prefer women who don't wear glasses. I think there is even an old saying that I have heard - 'men don't make passes at women who wear glasses'

I used to wear contact lenses because of vanity, because I think I do look nicer without glasses. I went back to wearing glasses ages ago (about 15 years ago I think). Mainly because they are cheaper than contact lenses. I wear glasses all the time as without them I'm pretty much as blind as a bat (and own 2 different pairs).

I don't have any preference myself for people with or without glasses, but, as a glasses wearing geek myself, your post did make me smile. :D

AMEN, "Newgirl"! Finally, someone who DOES appreciate a woman in glasses! And "Solaris", don't sell yourself short! I read your introduction and you sound like a wonderful person. Forgive me; I tend to be an optimist. But somewhere out there is your be-spectacled other half who will appreciate you for what you are. :)

I am in the specs camp myself as I wear 'em and yes, I too find that women who wear glasses are equally as beautiful as any others out there who are contact wearers or otherwise. The specs are just another perk to enjoy!

Girls look great in glasses! I agree. It's like face decoration. I hardly ever wear mine but because I am a show-off I will link you all to a picture so you can see the totally awesome ones I have.

Ooh, Prettyeyes, you look smashing in those!

And honestly, as a girl who wears glasses and felt self-conscious about it for years, it's actually pretty refreshing to hear that some people prefer them on a lady. I feel better in my specs now, and I've had some people tell me that I actually look better with them on. I know lots of people (Especially girls) automatically hate their glasses because they think it'll make them look dorky and unappealing, but it just ain't true.

I love people in glasses. Mostly because I steal them and wear them myself

Personally, I don't like my glasses. They're red and they're thick and blah. People say I look better in them though...

Well, I think guys with glasses are cute, am I sexist?

Nice to hear someone who likes glasses on girls. They actually make my face look better, IMO. That, and my mom had a nightmare fuely experience with contacts and I'm afraid I'll have the same thing happen to me being related to her...so I'll probably never wear contacts O.O

Solaris, I'm female and I don't see anything wrong with liking glasses on women. I like glasses on women and men myself. I think a lot people look really good with glasses. ^_^ I wear glasses myself and I think I look a lot better with glasses than without them.

You like what you like and there is nothing wrong with that. Just treat everyone the way you want to be treated. :D

Bipolar Bear, that is cute.

prettyeyes, you look so pretty. *_* Nice glasses.

bydefault, lol. I like how Sarah Palin looks wearing glasses, but I don't like her politics. ^_^

geek-in-a-half-shell, I think your glasses look really cute on you. They definitely give you "personality." ^_^ I have thick black glasses myself and I'm thinking about changing them. They look okay usually, but they don't go so well when it comes to cosplay and I think they stand out too much.

I think that old saw about "guys don't make passes at girls who wear glasses" is very very out of date! It's from an era when the glasses that were available (for men and for women) were not very flattering on most people. These days there are so many cool styles. I think it would take an extremely shallow person to automatically reject anyone who wears glasses - it would certainly remove a lot fo cool people from one's potential pool of love interests!).

OK, I wear glasses myself, and always used to think I was less attractive to women because of them. Got lots of teasing in jr.high/high school for them, but then school kids will pick on almost anybody for almost anything. These days it's a non-issue. :)

prettyeyes and geek-in-a-half-shell - you look great in those glasses! :)

I think I need to find a new style next time I get glasses - should do so soonish.

That's interesting - what comes to my taste, I don't like white guys at all, and I like (not in the sexual way, they just usually please my aesthetical eye  ) asian people the most. And while many people like tall guys, tall guys are a total turn-off for me. Also, formal clothes really "turn me off" so to say. Taste is a weird thing...

Tase is a weird thing indeed. My mom and sister still think I'm odd for loving skinny tall guys, they say muscle is better.

As everyone has said, Solaris, liking girlz n' glassez isn't anything to worry about. I too find most girls who can wear them confidently to be especially cute.

lol-i was in a similar situation. I was jealous of people who wore glasses, and then as i started bumping into walls more and more frequently, I had to get some, and then I was in the number. This is all so different than what I've been told "guys don't make passes at girls who wear glasses". It's all good to me though, I mostly wear them as a defense mechanism.

Btw, I tend to be fascinated by people with great personalities who are on the heavy side- they're beautiful to me- but i don't think that's a fettish...is it? Cuz I find other types of people fascinating too.

I am sorry, but those of mixed race are capable of being racist just like everyoen else. I do not know you so I am not calling you one, but it is a possibility.

I generally find girls who wear glasses to be extremely cute as well. I guess its not so much in a sexual way either, but its just so freakin' cute sometimes, especially if they are kinda' geeky. It shows a lot about their personality I guess. Either that or it just makes it easier to assume that they are very nice, intelligent, sweet, deep thinking, and considerate people.

Hell, even if they do not wear them confidently and if they are self conscious about wearing glasses its also appealing to me. Again, it makes me think that they are probably really deep and sensitive. Its just really cute and attractive.

PrettyEyes and Geek-in-a-half-shell... perfect examples. You two ladies are extremely cute attractive women.

PrettyEyes, your forum name describes you well. You have pretty eyes!

Geek-in-a-half-shell, props for cool as hell forum name choice, classic material!

You work those glasses cute ladies!

But yeah, so glasses are cute. More times than not as far as my tastes go, they add a good 2 or more points to a girl.

Lindi, thanks for saying that. Being someone of Asian decent myself, and on the short side. I've always been extremely self conscious of my physical appearance and peoples' expectations and prejudices ever since I became aware of my ethnicity (I grew up in a mostly Caucasian irish Catholic neighborhood). I grew up basically thinking that I was white (I'm definitely more American than Asian, culturally). Even though I was born and raised and live in NYC which is quite diverse and accepting; we (Asian males) seem to historically get a pretty bad rep for being geeky (not in a good way) weak and wimpy or crooked and scheming (like the stereotypical Asian villains in movies). I grew up as kid thinking that I'm the same as everyone else, but then have spent most of my life thinking that people see me as different and less attractive than what most people seem to consider the norm or standard for male beauty (the tall chiseled blonde haired blue eyed white dude, or tall dark and handsome thing). It really hurt my self-esteem and confidence over the years.

So its nice and refreshing to hear that there are women out there who do find us aesthetically pleasing.

If there are people out there who prefer blondes over brunettes or vice versa, or redheads, or what-have-you, then there's nothing wrong with prefering women with glasses. It sounds just like a personal preference, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I wear glasses myself, but I don't like wearing them because I find them inconvenient, so I sometimes wear contacts. Personally, I don't really have a preference - I've liked the look of some guys with glasses, as well those without glasses. I don't have a preference of one ethnicity over another either. The people (real life and celebrities) who I have thought were aesthetically pleasing, have been of different ethnicities and they weren't a specific "type" either. They looked pretty different actually, appearance-wise. I found each to be nice-looking in their own way, or something about their personality made them more "attractive" to me.
