here's a translation for all you peeps who don't understand Hebrew.

the article's about the Israeli forum.

TRANSLATION: [my comments go like this --illi]

One Of Their Kind [pun: "kind" = "sex" --illi]

You'd be surprised, but some people just don't find sex interesting The internet "a-sexual" forum was opened just for them Forum manager: "I like the looks of a handsome guy, but it's just like a work of art - I won't want to sleep with it" So there is a different sex [after a song with similar lyrics --illi]

(picture comment: the phenomenom starts to reveal itself)

- Everyone talks about sex but you don't care? When a guy invites you up to his place for coffee you ponder which brand he uses? Surfing the internet yet you never "accidentally" found a porn site? If the answers are "yes", you probably belong to the asexuals' community - people who just don't find sex interesting.

- Lately, a new forum for asexuals was started on the "Tapuz" forums site. There, they can talk about the issue, support each other and listen to those who feel like them.

- Slowly, the asexuality phenomenon [couldn't find a better translation. "something that happens"? --illi] starts to reveal. It's about women and men who don't feel sexual attraction towards the other sex or their own. Sex simply doesn't interest them, or as Hilli [talk about mispronunciation on the phone --ILLI] (pseudonym), a 25 year old from Tel Aviv, who manages the new forum in Tapuz defines it: "it's like having the whole world like cookies and only talk about cookies, and you'll be standing on the side and won't understand what the fuss is all about". [sORRY winter, i didn't mean it to sound like i used your 20/20 joke.. we have an inside joke about how cookies can solve any problem, so I wanted to slip it into the article. And they kinda misquoted me there, probably because I use such long sentences! --illi]

- The medical world still asks whether such a thing exists, and lately a few articles [he meant researches --illi] were published about it. [ONE. I told him ONE.. oh well :) --illi]

- But for Hilli, no article will change the way she feels - or, to be exact, doesn't feel. [note: in Hebrew, the word he used isn't connected to feelings like love or happiness. it's more shallow --illi]

- Hilli discovered she was asexual in the hard way of growing up. While her friends were looking for touch [contact] with the other sex and started sexual relationships, she wasn't really interested in all that.

- "I didn't know what's going on with me. I tried to convince myself to get attracted to guys, but that didn't really work", she says. "On some point I thought maybe I'm just attracted to women, but that wasn't it either. As I looked around I realised I was just not attracted to anyone".

- She felt that way until she was around 20 years old, but a short look on the internet showed her many forums [AVEN became "many forums" here.. --illi] in the world that talk about the exact same feelings. Then she first encountered the term "asexual".

- "I think asexuality is the fourth sexual preference [i did NOT say "I think" --illi] of the human race. There are heterosexuals, homosexuals, bisexuals and there are asexuals. I can marvel at a handsome guy, but it's just like marvelling at a work of art - I wouldn't want to sleep with it".

- After realising that a large number of Israelis visits the foreign forums [nonono, i said that it's after realising many israelis didn't go to foreign forums and just felt lonely] Hilli turned to the Tapuz forums site and pretty soon the new "asexuals" forum was started.

- Now she hopes that the community will expand and that more and more asexuals can find answers to the questions on their minds.

p.s. the first paragraph plays with the Israeli forum's opening message: "when you go out with friends, do they talk about "doing" girls and you just want to change the subject? when your date invites you up to his place, do you hope you'll get to play with his playstation?..."

all in all, i think this is a GREAT article, as it shows exactly what we are even though it didn't get too deep. Too bad they didn't insert the URL in a more visible manner, though.

Gahhhh if I could only still read that!!!

<--forgot most of the Hebrew she knew

But, anyway, yeah it sucks that they misquoted you, but it's still a nice article. Nothing drastically changed, like "omg asexuals are sluts" or something
