AVEN Pamphlet Printing

Hey everyone! The pamphlets are finally done! Take a look here:
Colour PDF: http://www.asexualit...20pamphlets.pdf
Grey scale PDF: http://www.asexualit...phlets%20gs.pdf
While the grey scale ones are for at-home/on-the-fly printing, the colour ones should be professionally printed on glossy, legal sized paper and handed out as such.
So, how do we get there from here?
One idea is that we have regional pamphlet distributors. So, one person in a designated area would be the go-to person for pamphlets. For example, Cijay volunteered to be the Europe pamphlet rep, and I would be willing to be the Canadian rep. We'd have pamphlets printed for us and sent to us in big, fat boxes, and when someone in our "region" needed some, we'd mail them out.
Another idea is that people, individually, pay to have however many pamphlets they want printed at a local Staples/Kinkos/CopySmart.
In either case, money is a concern. So, I guess, my questions to you all are these: 1) How should pamphlets be distributed? and 2) How should the be financed? Options include individual cost, PT money, and fund raising... Any others?
Thanks, everyone! Let's get these OUT THERE!

I'd be happy to be the NorCal (or West Coast, or whatever) pamphlet person! *Raises hand up high!* I could print a very small quantity out of pocket, but definitely not enough to distribute to other people. Maybe we could fundraise for a general pamphlet fund. We could use www.chipin.com to do this, and if all the active AVEN members gave a few dollars, we could potentially acquire a good amount of money. Chipin is cool because we could send the link to whatever non-AVEN wealthy benefactors we may have. We could also put the ChipIn widget on our respective, blogs, websites, and whatever. I find that people enjoy donating with ChipIn, because you can see a direct effect of your donation (it shows you how close the cause is to its goal).

Have you asked DJ whether Paypal donations could be used for this? If they're not being used for server costs as was discussed some time ago, I'd have thought leaflets is a good use for that money.
Although a 'rep' system sounds good, I'd worry that because AVENites tend move around a lot, there could be problems with people no longer being able to fulfil the role and having lots of unused leaflets to deal with. It could also lead to high freight costs (I don't know about the USA, but it's not cheap shifting heavy boxes of paper around Europe).
Perhaps if a project team member had access to an account, they could arrange for people who printed them locally to be reimbursed. There could be limits on the amount given at any one time (related to the number of leaflets it is estimated people are likley to be able to effectively distribute) but obviously there would have to be some trust that people were really doing what they said they were doing.

Sure, send it to them! We're trying to get an idea of what printing would be like, but if they print them or you print some black-and-white ones, then that all works fine.

Wow, they look good!
Just to clarify, my understanding is that those pamphlet designs are FREE TO ANYONE. So anyone can print them out or arrange for another organization to print them out, without the permission of AVEN/Project Team. GLBT - type organizations might be interested in printing some, for example.
The distribution discussion is not to control who prints them, but to try to ensure that people have a means of obtaining pamphlets without having to pay for them out of their own pocket. But hey, if you (or another organization) is willing to pay...print away!!!
[If I am wrong about this someone please correct me]

Partially a reasonable point. But look at the following table (its a moderate not damn good pricing for folded DIN A4 pamphlets 4x4c printed & clear coated on 170g/sqm stock.)
Run price (incl.VAT)
1250- 139,58 /166,10 EUR
2500- 180,38 /214,66 EUR
5000- 267,53 /318,36 EUR
10000- 442,12 /526,13 EUR
15000- 630,27 /750,02 EUR
20000- 807,02 /960,36 EUR
30000- 1.160,53 /1.381,03 EUR
40000- 1.501,71 /1.787,04 EUR
According to my math roughly 900 of them should weigh 10kg packed for shipping, which is nationally still affordable and would be moderate 22 Euro from my place to another EU country (32Euro for a 20kg parce) lBy picking a slightly lighter stock (135g/sqm?) we could ship 1000, maybe even in the US format they are meant to be printed.
I don't know what a AVEN appropriate amount of pamphlets to be distributed at once might be. But assuming we'd try to reach interested people and not absolutely everybody I might drop maybe 5 at once at a ny consenting business and ship maybe 100 to a friendly organisation. -
Of course we could also start dropping them in every mailbox we spot Whoever is willing to do so might be cheaper off having a entire car (over)load printed locally.
At least according to my math central mass printing + shipping seems cheaper than short run printing locally for quite a long time. - Maybe I'm getting things wrong  I'm no accountant...
I believe who ever volunteers to do the distribution should try to act responsible. Those who move their houses by plane might encounter bigger trouble than others doing the hauling by truck where having another 100kg of boxes packed shouldn't mean much.

So, I made a ChipIn page for San Francisco pamphlet printing...and $50 has already been donated! (Even though it hasn't showed up yet...mysterious, since I got an e-mail about it, but anyway...)
The link is here:
http://avenatpride.c.../aven-pamphlets
I'd like to post it somewhere on AVEN, so people here can show the SF pamphlets some love. Where would it be best to post this? Announcements or visibility?
